Laser/Vaser Liposuction

Laser/Vaser Liposuction from La VaLii AZ

Have you tried dieting for several years and still do not lose the extra pound in your body? Or have you exercised daily, spend a lot in the gym and yet there remains extra bulging fat in your belly or love handles? Well you are not alone. Majority of people have this kind of problem. Women especially have this problem more often after delivering a baby. They easily gained extra pounds in the abdomen and the hips, and yet after delivery it takes years for this extra weight to disappear. And if you're lucky, if you lose weight, then there is the prominent bulging lower abdomen that prevents you from wearing low waist jeans or tight evening gowns. Don't despair, there's an answer. AWAKE LASER LIPOSUCTION.

There are many types of liposuction but there are two main goals of this procedure and they are to reduce the unwanted fat and contour the silhouette of the body. Every liposuction uses tumescent fluid like normal saline combined with lidocaine, epinephrine and sodium bicarbonate.

TRADITIONAL LIPOSUCTION - is done with the patient under general anesthesia. You need to be asleep since the procedure is painful due to the use of large cannulas that breaks the fat deposits of your body. After tumescent fluid infusion, then the physician loosens the fat tissue and once loose, applied with strong suction to get the fat. There are many complications that may like pooling of blood under the skin called hematoma, bruising seen as bluish red discoloration in the skin, bumpy appearance of the skin, infection and scarring.

POWER ASSISTED LIPOSUCTION - is also done under general anesthesia. This is the same as the traditional liposuction but the advantage of this is that it requires less physical effort on the part of the physician to break the fat. It is because the power assisted liposuction device uses electric headpiece that pistons the tip of the attached liposuction cannula a few millimeters, several thousand times per minute, which greatly double the efficiency of fat removal. The physician becomes less tired and has more time contouring the natural shape of the body.

VASER LIPOSUCTION - this is a less invasive procedure since the patient is awake and can tell the doctor if she has discomfort. Patient is given anti-anxiety medication, pain reliever, and injection of local anesthesia. Afterwards, the tumescent fluid is injected to the fatty layer and after about 15 minutes, the procedure is done without pain, only a little discomfort. This liposuction is usually done to debulk the larger fat deposits in the body but can also be used in smaller areas.

vid-thumb-get-resultsVaser liposuction is the next generation body contouring since it uses ultrasonic energy that breaks the fat of the body while preserving the important part of the tissue, like the blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue. It only breaks fat by emulsifying it into small fatty particles in liquid form. Once the fat is liquefied, it's gently suctioned. Just after the procedure you can at once see the flattening of the treated part of the body. After the procedure, the patient is applied with compression garment to help the skin adhere and follows the normal shapely contour of the body. The patient walks out of the operating room, rests at home for 1 or 2 days then if she wants can go back to work.

LASER LIPOSUCTION - this is done just like the VASER liposuction but the difference is, it doesn't use ultrasonic energy but heat the area to liquefy the fat. This is done on smaller parts of the body that requires fine contouring of areas like the chin, neck, bra lines, etc. The high powered laser though can also do large areas. The advantage of laser liposuction is it dissolves the fat, coagulates the small blood vessels and therefore produces less bleeding. Another advantage of this laser liposuction is it produces heat under the skin which helps in the contraction of the collagen thus tightening the skin. Those people with very flabby loose skin though cannot be helped by this procedure. They may need a surgical tummy tuck.

I perform this procedure in my office at Arrowhead Medical & Aesthetics Center. The actual procedure usually lasts for 45 minutes to one hour per area of the body.

If you have uncontrolled diabetes, fluctuating blood pressure, have history of blood clots, stroke, heart disease and taking aspirin and Coumadin blood thinners, then you are not a candidate for this procedure.

This procedure is for healthy patients that would like to shape their body better, for those patients that are frustrated by the resistance of certain body parts to exercise and diet.

This procedure is done for men and women on different parts of the body like chin, neck, breast, bra lines, arms, waists, abdomen, pubic areas, buttocks, thighs, legs, etc.

If you have uncontrolled perspiration of the armpit, then this is also done to remedy this embarrassing condition. This is done by removing the fatty tissue underlying the armpit.
